Top 10 Things To Do While In Las Vegas at ICCFA

We’re packing our bags, checking them twice and gearing up for our next big tradeshow adventure in the city that never sleeps- Las Vegas!

The International Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Association is hosting its 2012 Annual Convention & Expo at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, March 19-22.

If we get a second to step away from the funeralOne booth (#123), we’re hoping to experience the best that Las Vegas has to offer!

In anticipation of the upcoming ICCFA Expo, I’ve put together the Top Ten Things to do while in Las Vegas. Enjoy!

10. Gallery of Fine Art at the Bellagio

The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art (BGFA) is a must see for any art enthusiast.  The BGFA features world-class exhibitions of art and various objects from numerous museums and private collections that span the globe.  Currently on display at the BGFA is a collection of over 20 pieces by Claude Monet, the founder of French Impressionist painting.

9. The Las Vegas Strip

No trip is complete without walking the famous Las Vegas Boulevard! At just over 4 miles long, The Strip is home to many of the world’s best hotels, casinos, restaurants, nightclubs and high-end retail stores.  The dramatic architecture of this cityscape makes it one of the most popular tourist destinations.

8. Helicopter Ride

Want to get a better view of the dazzling neon, city lights?  Enjoy the panoramic cityscape with a night helicopter ride up and down the Vegas Strip.  It’ll give you a new perspective of Sin City!

7. Cirque du Soleil

Self described as a “dramatic mix of circus arts and street entertainment”, the live music and gymnastic routines of Cirque du Soleil are performed for nearly 9,000 people a night in Vegas. Seven different Cirque du Soleil shows are currently performing and include a classis gymnastic routine, aquatics romance and a tribute to Elvis – there’s always something for everyone!

6. Hoover Dam

An hour ride from Las Vegas a national historic landmark, the Hoover Dam, attracts more than a million people every year.  This colossal structure took 200 engineers and 21,000 workers nearly five years to complete. And what a view! Take the time to cross the bridge from its highest vantage point at 1,500!

5. Stratosphere Tower

Afraid of heights?  Then the 1,149 ft tall Stratosphere Tower at the end of the Vegas Strip may put you over the edge.  As the United States tallest freestanding observation tower, the Stratosphere is also a hotel, casino, mall, observer deck and thrill ride.  With three roller coasters and a bungee jumping-like ride from the top deck, you won’t catch this scared-y cat anywhere near the top!

4. Freemont Street Experience at Old Las Vegas

The original, vintage Vegas and Freemont Street is a must for a Las Vegas first timer. Old Vegas is over a hundred years old and home to some of the most famous neon signs, like the Golden Nugget and cowboy “Vegas Vic”.  The Freemont Street Experience includes LED light display shows in the canopy atmosphere, street performers, original Vegas casinos and an 800 ft zip-line ride above the crowds.

3. Fountains at Bellagio

Every half-hour between 3pm and 8pm and for every fifteen minutes after that, crowds gather outside of the Bellagio hotel.  Don’t just push past the gawkers staring at an empty casino front – make sure to stop! The beautifully choreographed show of lights, water and music fill the 9-acre man-made lake.  With a variety of over 20 songs, 4 types of water jets and various architectural water combinations, every Bellagio Fountain show feels like a new experience.

2. Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay

This public aquarium inside of Mandalay Bay is unnaturally far from any natural water – an aquarium in the dessert!  It is home to numerous species of shark, rays, fish reptiles, turtles and the rare golden crocodile.  But the coolest part, the underwater shark tunnel complete with a shipwreck!

And while you’re at Mandalay Bay, make sure to do the number one thing while in Las Vegas…
