8 People, Places And Things You Cannot Miss at ICCFA 2019

The 2019 ICCFA Convention is upon us!

Are you as excited as we are?

With the theme being focused on NASCAR and the tagline being “on the right track”, we get the feeling there will be plenty of momentum in the air.

Here are the 8 people, places and things we definitely won’t miss, and recommend you check out, too:

1. Experience racing a car with your peers at the Welcome Reception

If you’re a NASCAR fan you’ll be happy to hear that the Welcome Reception will be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame. While the event is an additional cost of $20, we highly recommend giving it a go to jumpstart your week off with a lighthearted, fun opportunity to get to know your peers and industry leaders. With 150,000 square feet of art, interactive exhibits, artifacts and racing simulators, you won’t be bored, that’s for sure!

When to attend: Tuesday, April 2nd from 6:30pm to 9:30pm.

2. Check out the new and improved ICCFA mobile app

If there’s one thing we’re crazy about here at funeralOne, it’s new and innovative technology. ICCFA recently released their official mobile app for the event. We’ve got to say, it’s pretty awesome! With easy access to the workshop schedules, FAQ’s and even social media updates, it’s safe to say it’s definitely worth downloading if you’ll be at ICCFA this year.

To download: Search “ICCFA App” in Apple Store or Google Play to find and download this free app.

3. Go deeper into the world of personalization with the 2019 Certified Celebrant Training

If you’re looking for a leg up in the changes of the funeral profession, this training is a great investment! We know that families’ are looking for more options, and with this Celebrant Training, you’ll have plenty of skills and ideas to offer them. According to the ICCFA website, the training offers “a chance to practice, discover resources and build your skills in working with families and making public presentations”.

The best part about this training is that it doesn’t coincide with anything ICCFA-related. Every session is right before all the magic of ICCFA begins. Sign up for the celebrant training here.

Training dates: April 1 – 3, 2019

4. Meet one of the biggest forces behind the #futureoffunerals

Doug Gober, a longtime friend of the funeralOne team, is going to be covering our favorite topic at ICCFA this year: the future of funerals. Check out his workshop, Follow the Money: How Deathcare Businesses are Investing in the New Future to learn more about the trends that are emerging in this exciting time we’re living in.

When to attend: Friday, April 5th @ 2pm

5. Get a breath of fresh air at nearby Marshall Park

If you’re looking for a nearby place to get away from all the buzz of the convention, take a short walk (only 8 minutes from the convention center) to nearby Marshall Park. With a little pond, fountain, and some pretty amazing views of the city skyline, it’s a perfect place to make a picnic lunch and take a breather with some fresh air.

6. Taste local cuisine at the famous McKoy’s Smokehouse

If your tastebuds are craving some local, far from vegetarian cuisine, check out McKoy’s Smokehouse. Deemed as the “best BBQ in the Carolina’s” and a winner of the Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence for the last three years in a row, this a must-eat for meat lovers. Do be aware that they don’t take reservations, so be prepared to wait a little! To learn more, visit their website here.

Insider’s tip: Be sure to get the local’s favorite — the “double grilled” smoked chicken wings!

7. Expand your funeral home’s spectrum

Jill Lazar, a funeral director with over 25 years of experience, is inviting you to open your funeral home doors to the public with her workshop, Serving the Community Through the Doors of the Funeral Home. If you’ve been wondering about how you can start to interact with your community and families on a deeper level by hosting non-funeral related events, this is a wonderful opportunity for you. According to her event description, you can expect the talk to be covering event hosting, catering, staffing, scheduling and marketing the community events you host at your funeral home.

When to attend: Wednesday, April 3rd at 3pm

8. Visit funeralOne at booth # 1625 & 1208 to help invent the future of funerals
