1. The new NFDA mobile app

If there’s one thing we’re crazy about here at funeralOne, it’s new and innovate technology. NFDA recently released their official mobile app for the event, and we’ve got to say, it’s pretty awesome. With easy access to the workshop schedules, FAQ’s and even social media updates, it’s safe to say it’s definitely worth downloading if you’ll be at NFDA this year.

  • 2. The ultimate Service of Remembrance experience

When: Tuesday, October 14th, 9:45am – 11am

What better way to honor the memory of our funeral service family members who have passed away than the beautiful sounds of Nashville music? This year’s service will include a special appearance by country music star Vince Gill, who will perform his hit song “Go Rest High on that Mountain.” funeralOne is extremely excited to provide the Service of Remembrance video experience for NFDA this year, so we hope to see you there!

  • 3. Get your country music fix at “Honky Tonk Highway”

If it’s cool beer and country music’s hottest tunes you’re looking for, Honky Tonk Highway is the place to be. Be sure to check out the classics like Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge, Legends Corner, Second Fiddle, The Stage, Bluegrass Inn and Robert’s Western World. As the birthplace for many country stars careers like Willie Nelson, Dierks Bentley and Gretchen Wilson, you never know what kinds of celebs you might find walking those streets.

  • 4. Meet one of funeral service’s favorite bloggers

When: Sunday, October 12th, 11:30am – 12:30pm

caleb-wilde

Caleb Wilde has been gracing national news headlines ever since he started his blog, Confessions of a Funeral Director. Caleb’s one of our favorite guest bloggers and faces in funeral service. And this year at NFDA, he’ll be hosting his first-ever workshop called “Transparency and Social Media: Creating an Ethical Edge for Your Firm”. During his workshop, he’ll teach you how to use transparency and authenticity online to connect with your families in new ways.

  • 5. Get artsy at Artober Nashville

One of the greatest things about October in Nashville is Artober, a month-long celebration of arts and culture in Nashville. Every week brings a slew of activities ranging from poetry workshops to art shows, so be sure to make time to check it out while you’re there. Click here for the full schedule of events.

  • 6. Learn how to close your firm’s generation gap at Lacy Robinson’s workshop

When: Tuesday, October 14th, 8:30am – 9:30am

Lacy Robinson has been a great friend of our team’s for years, and her workshops have been on the top of our “to-do” list every year. There’s a reason for that, and it’s because she’s one of the best and brightest women in funeral service. This year, Lacy will be tackling a hugely controversial topic in the funeral profession with her workshop “Talkin’ ’Bout My Generation”: Four Generations in the Funeral Home”. During her workshop, she’ll discuss the 11 points of conflict among the generations and how they can be resolved to increase the success of your funeral home. If you have a wide age range at your firm, it’s definitely one you don’t want to miss!

  • 7. Wine and dine at the NFDA Welcome Party

  • 8. Try uniquely Nashville cuisine

While you’re in Nashville, you can’t forget to treat your tastebuds to some infamous Nashville grub. Whether you’re looking for a quick casual lunch or a fancy dinner at a historic Mansion, Nashville’s got it all. Some of our favorites include Prince’s Hot Chicken Shack, Pharmacy Burger Parlor and Beer Garden, ACME Feed & Seed. And don’t forget dessert- Nashville was recently ranked No. 3 on Travel + Leisure’s “America’s Best Cities for Ice Cream”. Be sure to check out this list of Nashville’s best cuisine… you won’t regret it!

  • 9. Learn about the success of funeral service’s biggest education campaign

When: Wednesday, October 15th, 8am – 9am

talkofalifetime

When the Have The Talk Of a Lifetime public education campaign was launched at NFDA last year by Funeral and Memorial Information Council (FAMIC), funeral professionals everywhere jumped on the bandwagon and helped spread the word to make it a success. One year later, FAMIC is hosting a workshop to discuss the campaign efforts used and the success stories behind them. They’ll also help your funeral home get started educating families with Have The Talk of a Lifetime by handing out free marketing tools and giving you the information you need to use them. We don’t know about you, but we’re super excited to hear about the success of our favorite education campaign this year!
