4 Steps to Creating Powerful Healing Experiences

Over the last 3 weeks we’ve covered a lot of powerful material on the topic of creating healing experiences and have received a ton of positive feedback. So, to help you keep up that momentum, I’ve put together 4 proven steps to ensure your success in creating healing experiences. But, before we get into the good stuff, here’s a quick recap of what we’ve covered so far:

By now, there is no denying it; creating healing experiences is the foundation of any meaningful funeral. And I’m sure you would agree that any funeral professional can’t afford not to be creating healing experiences. So, I decided to lay out the 4 simple steps to creating healing experiences.

1) Commit to and embrace change. First, you and all of your staff need to be fully committed –and believe in – the power of creating healing experiences. Without question, the hardest step is simply committing to change.

2) Set Your Goals. Once you’ve defined where you want to go, now it’s time to decide what are some realistic goals of where you want to be in 3 months, 6 months, and even 1 year after making this new commitment. The key is making sure your goals are obtainable. Here’s a quick tip to help you set some goals: set up a brainstorming session with your staff and make sure you discuss where you are as of now, outline the things that are holding you back from reaching your goals, and then work at setting some realistic goals.

3) Train & Implement. Once you’ve set your goals, it’s now time to lay out the action-steps necessary for you to reach your goals. Action steps can be as simple as a checklist of what do to for every family you serve. Share this with your staff, and train them so they can begin implementing with confidence.

4) Reporting. With any success, it is critical you are able to measure and report on the progress you and your staff are making. You can start by having a weekly meeting with your staff where you can discuss what’s working and how families are reacting to these new healing experiences. The positive feedback being shared from families will energize your entire company, as will seeing what a difference creating healing experiences makes for not only your families, but also for the entire community.

You’re set to achieve extraordinary results! The most important point to get you where you want to go is not worrying too much about being “perfect” right off the bat. It’s more important that you start implementing and testing to see what works the best for you. Don’t be afraid to learn as you go. And remember, anything that you do to start putting more effort in creating experiences is only going to improve the level of service you are providing to your client families.

Closing Thought:
I want to wish you the best of luck and I really hope that all the information I’ve been sharing with you has been helpful. If you ask those three critical questions in assessing the “healing value” of your offerings, implement these four steps over a three month period (that’s just one business quarter), you’ll experience extraordinary results. I’m sure of it.

In the coming days, weeks, or even months, please let me know how this has impacted your client families’ lives, and those in your community. Share your thoughts with me below.
