A Tour Of 5 Of The Most Beautiful Funeral Homes & Cemeteries In the USA

Once upon a time, a funeral parlor was your living room.

That was just 150 years ago.

Now, funeral homes range from extensive, state-of-the-art facilities to stunningly beautiful parks to memorial temples.

We’ve worked with thousands of funeral homes over the last 20 years and these are the 5 most beautiful funeral homes we’ve ever been to.

So grab a snack, and your inspiration cap, and go on a tour with us into these stunningly special funeral homes, cemeteries and memorial parks:

#1: Posey Funeral Directors

What we love about this space: Elegance. Tastefulness. Class. Posey Funeral Directors has a grand reputation in their community in South Carolina. And their funeral home facilities represent nothing short of that. We particularly love the beautiful oak trees that line the entrance to inspire healing through nature. We really appreciate the “blank canvas” its gathering facilities feature, which leaves plenty of room for creativity, meaning and magic.

#2: Spilsbury Mortuary

What we love about this space: Spilsbury Mortuary made our jaws drop from the moment we walked in. The stunning statue that shows the journey from life to death is what captured our hearts. The statue of an elderly woman being greeted by a peaceful being (called God for those who practice religion) creates a sense of comfort and safety. Even those who are non-religious can feel comfort in this statue. We also love the homey vibe and natural lighting and plants that are offered throughout the facility. Since sunlight and Vitamin D are hugely supportive for depression and grief, we appreciate the thought in creating space for these important things such as comfort and homeliness.

#3: Chapel of the Chimes

What we love about this space: Ok, we have to be honest. Chapel of the Chimes IS the most beautiful funeral home we’ve ever been to. And we wanted to put this one smack in the middle to be fair to the others! What we love about Chapel of the Chimes is the many options they provide for resting places. There are mausoleums, custom estates, columbariums, cremation gardens and cremation memorials. The spaces they’ve created are absolutely stunning. You feel like you’re on a vacation to heaven! We love the inspiration and absolute awe this sanctuary for the living and dead creates for all who enter.

#4: Memorial Park Cemetery & Memorial

Memphis, Tennessee

What we love about this space: Home of the sacred folk art treasure, Crystal Shrine Grotto, a stunning cemetery, veteran remembrance grounds, and a funeral home filled with gorgeous facilities, Memorial Park has a well earned spot on this list. Memorial Park truly offers it all, from more traditional options to religious services to spiritual and nature inspired options. We’re truly amazed by how much space there is here to create virtually any kind of celebration of life!

#5: Valley of the Temples Memorial Park

What we love about this space: Nestled in the foothills of a beautiful mountain range in Oahu is the Valley of the Temples Memorial Park. From a bird’s eye view, you’d probably spot it because of its heart shape (see second photo). This is because they worked with a world renowned Feng Shui artist to create the space for peace and healing at their funeral home. With over 10,000 square feet of design nothing short of a masterpiece, this memorial park is known for its state of the art technologies and designs.

Another cool fact about Valley of the Temples is that it was created to celebrate the blending of cultures and religions. In particular, they focus on blending Japanese and Hawaiian culture, which is a very culturally corrective experience after the horrific events of Pearl Harbor 80 years ago.
